KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 — KPJ Healthcare Bhd director, Tan Sri Siti Sa’diah Sheikh Bakir was appointed as chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for a period of three years with effect from June 1 to May 31, 2019.
UUM in a statement today said the appointment was made through a letter issued by the Ministry of Higher Education on May 24, in accordance with Section 16 (a) of the Constitution of UUM.
Siti Sa’diah, 63, a former managing director of KPJ Healthcare Berhad for 19 years, was first appointed to the post on March 1, 1993 until the date of her retirement on December 31, 2012.
She then served as KPJ’s Corporate Advisor until Dec 31, 2014, and is currently the Independent Non-Executive director of KPJ.
With extensive experience in the healthcare industry, Siti Sa’diah who is also a member of the Razak School of Government Academic Committee sits on several committees of universities such as Universiti Malaya and University of Reading Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in the same statement, UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak also congratulated and welcomed Siti Sa’diah’s appointment.
He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the former chairman of UUM Board of Directors, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, who completed his service on April 30. — Bernama
